In Japan, Fast Track Examination is applicable for trademark applications.

Fast Track Examination means accelerated examination.

We are able to request for Fast Track Examination for a trademark application if the application satisfies any of the prescribed requirements as below.

Requirements For Fast Track Examination

An applicant of a trademark application can request for Fast Track Examination in case that:

1. The applicant is using or preparing use of the applied mark for any of the designated goods/services, and there is any of the following situations:
   1. A third party is using or preparing use of an identical or similar mark to the applied mark in connection with identical or similar goods/services to those for which the applicant is using or preparing use of the applied mark
   2. The applicant is receiving a claim of infringement of trademark right from a third party against the use of the applied mark
   3. The applicant is receiving a request for a license for use of the applied mark from a third party
   4. The applicant is filing a foreign trademark application for the same mark
   5. The applicant will file an international trademark application under the Madrid protocol based on the applied mark
2. The applicant is using or preparing use of the applied mark for all the designated goods/services
3. The applicant is using or preparing use of the applied mark for any of the designated goods/services, and all the designated goods/services are standard items listed in the Examination Guidelines for Similar Goods & Services
